Chad’s Show in September
All eligible SAL members are invited to bring one painting
to the September 7th General Meeting for Chad's Summer Show.
There will be no entry fee or jurying process and first, second, third and 4
honorable mentions will be awarded.
The shows' theme this year is "Ordinary Object - Extraordinary Art".
Take an ordinary object and make it extraordinary in your painting. Please, no
extra large paintings as wall space is limited and we want to be able to hang
all entries. Artwork will be on display until the October General Meeting.

Now OPEN…Arizona Art Alliance Gallery at
the Scottsdale Pavilions
Located at Indian Bend & the 101
(south side of Indian Bend, just east of Sports Authority).
Hours: Wednesday through Sunday…11AM – 7PM
AZ Art Alliance Juried Artists will display work in 2-month increments at this
beautifully carpeted and granite floored gallery. This first display cycle is
for June & July. The gallery space has interesting niches, mirrors and lots of
window space that are ideal for displaying 3D art, as well as a generous amount
of wall and panel space to accommodate 2D art. Workshop areas are available and
a portion of the gallery space is devoted to gift shop items.
In addition to the Gallery space, we also have access to the windows of six
empty retail stores in the Pavilions to display art for sale and further promote
our art exhibitions.

Workshops at the AZ Art Alliance Gallery
We would also like your input for future workshop offerings. Go to the website
www.azartalliance.com for a form to
fill out with your interests, and workshop organizer Nancy Troupe will schedule
accordingly.
To be a Participating Artist in AZ Art Alliance Shows, you must belong to
an Art Alliance member league (such as SAL), and be juried into the AZ Art
Alliance. You can get a jury application through AAA Rep Judy at
jdelmonico-roll@cox.net or
480-990-1359, or from the Art Alliance website, as above. Please note that the
jury application has recently been revised by our new Jury Director, Karen Budan.
The next jury deadline is September 30, 2010.
Congratulations to our newest SAL/AAA-Juried Artists: Diane Haugen
(gourds), Yvonne Joyner, Michele Judge, Barbara Lacy, Karen Lockhart.
Thank you, John Fontana! For most of the 10 years that the AZ Art
Alliance has been in existence, John has served as President. Under John’s
guidance, the Art Alliance has grown to include 27 Arizona-based art groups, and
we now have our own all volunteer-staffed gallery. Having realized the dream of
a location for the Art Alliance at the Scottsdale Pavilions, John feels it’s
time to resign as President effective July 31st. For his many years of service
as President, we extend a heartfelt thank you to John. Happily, he will remain
active with the Alliance in other capacities.
Welcome, Alan Arne! Since he has worked so closely with John, it will be
a smooth transition as Al takes over as interim President of the AZ Art
Alliance. Thank you, Al, for your willingness to take on this new challenge and
move the Art Alliance forward.
