TO ALL OUR MEMBERS -
WANTED!!!
VOLUNTEER!
The end of the newsletter?
As many of you know, I have been taking care of the newsletter production since
the June 2009 issue. While it has been rewarding to contribute to the Scottsdale
Artists League in this capacity, I have to let someone else take
over. My last newsletter will be the May 2010 issue. I am hoping someone comes
forward to take this on so that I am able to help train the next person, because
after the May issue is complete (which mails out in April) I will no longer be
able to devote myself to either the training or the production of the SAL
newsletter. If no one is able to take this on, May 2010 will be the last
SAL newsletter. Marilyn used Corel Draw, I am using InDesign, but anyone with
the desire and a program as simple as Word can do this! I have had help along
the way with editing and photo takers so you will not be alone in making the
newsletter happen. There is a great group of people who help with the mailing
too. Please contact me, Ericka, if you are interested or have any questions at
480-874-2272 or ericka@cerowoodart.com.

Desert Botanical Garden Paintout and Sale
- Celebrating Our 15th Year!
Beth will be taking photos for the brochure at the January meeting!
Paintouts will be held each Saturday in March 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The sale is
the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in April 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. and there
are plans for quick draws during the sale to create excitement.
40 artists will participate and there is a $35 fee which will include a
commemorative t-shirt and artists’ brochure. For the first time there will be a
$200 purchase award, juried by DBG staff, for their permanent collection. Small
size works are encouraged (think traveling tourists and the luggage size!)
Efforts will be organized into 5 teams: Publicity, Scheduling, Sales desk,
Set-up/Tear-down, and Chase. You do not have to be a participating painter in
order to help, and volunteering your time can go a long way to help the League
in this endeavor. Remember Beth will be taking photos for the brochure at the
January meeting and Harold might present more painting suggestions for Plein Air
at our February Meeting. |
Gammage Show -
Bring Your Artwork! Next Tuesday, March 2nd, artwork must be brought to
the general meeting between 5:30pm and 6:30p.m for the Gammage Show
The Gammage Show will run from April 5 – May 10, 2010 at the Gammage Auditorium
on the ASU campus. SAL will be the only group exhibiting there during that time
and consequently, will have space to accommodate large artwork. This is a juried
show and will hang during the productions of “Jesus Christ Superstar” and Alfred
Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps.”
Artists
may enter up to three paintings for jurying and entry fees are $10.00 for
one painting, $20.00 for two and $25.00 for three. The minimum size for
artwork is 16 x 20 and no freestanding art is allowed. At the last show in
2007 we hung 45 paintings.
Installation will take place at 10:00 a.m. on April 5. Artists that are juried
into the show will be expected to deliver their work at that time.
More
information will be posted on the website and Art Beat in the near future.
